Cobber

When the Sanctuary first discovered Cobber, he was bedraggled in a mudbath of a field in North Wirral. He was indeed a very distressing sight covered in ringworm (a contagious skin condition). Cobber also had internal migratory red worms that were burrowing through his liver and kidneys. He was lethargic hardly able to walk let alone stand. A look of hopelessness in his eyes. Death was only a day or two away.

A well wisher to the Sanctuary paid £350-00 to get him away from his plight. It was touch and go whether he would survive, the vet was not very hopeful and was appalled that an animal could be sold for money, in such a life threatening condition. Cobber Australian for friend, whose determination to live shone through. His feet were so badly cracked due to the lack of nutrients and he could hardly walk. His two new friends Jockey and Slipper gave Cobber the incentive to make a slow and fruitful recovery. With the intensive care given to him during this time, he was galloping around our Caldy field six months later.
